Throughout her time in college, she kept busy with multiple organizations including the Vanderbilt Juggling and Physical Arts Club, the National Society of Black Engineers, and Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. During this time, she was able to get a first-hand look at how differences in educational backgrounds impact the overall college experience as well as student success.
These observations have inspired her to explore topics of education equity, especially as it relates to STEM education, women, and minorities. She believes that to change the climate of women in STEM, we must change the images associated with them. Programs like PinkSTEM are doing just that by inspiring girls to see themselves and their peers as the next generation of scientists and engineers. She’s excited to join program founder, Tamika Ray-Head, and program director, Misty Bryant, in this pursuit.
